The Growth of E-Retail
We’re halfway through 2021, Covid has accelerated the growth of online shopping by 5 years, and now things are never going to go completely back to ‘normal’.
E-Retail and E-Commerce have become the buzzwords of the digital marketing space as of late. Amazon has infiltrated the marketing platform landscape and is not going anywhere any time soon. E-Retail/Commerce have become non negotiable parts of marketing strategies.
When we talk about E-Retail it goes beyond Google and Facebook, the more traditional digital marketing platforms, we now have marketplaces such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, Staples, Costco and hundreds of other popular sites that you can now advertise on right within each platform. Therefore it has become a new jungle for brands to navigate, how to run on each one, and to figure out the cost efficiency of which marketplaces are the right ones to be on.
Amazon is the most well known and has really kickstarted small businesses and also given much needed growth to larger more stagnant brands. The Amazon marketing platform is nowhere near as advanced as Google or Facebook, yet. Amazon is quickly growing their employees to expand their sales reps as well as making new advancements to their platform almost weekly. Amazon most recently rolled out a DSP of their own that has a lot of people excited because of the countless opportunities to reach new audiences.
Beyond Amazon we have Target, Walmart, Wayfair, Overstock.com and so much more which are quickly all finding their way to Skai - the newly rebranded kenshoo platform that helps marketers run multiple marketplaces at once. Criteo has also partnered with Skai which now helps make running on almost everything in one place more manageable. Let me know in the comments if you’re interested in an article focusing specifically on Amazon, Skai, or Criteo and happy to expand on all of the above!
