NYFW F/W 2022

This year marked my first ever NYFW! To say I was excited would be an understatement. After years of watching from the sidelines I took the initiative to reach out to a few brands I loved and had some contacts that worked on the presentations this year. I was able to attend three different presentations and am excited to recap them here on my blog.

Nalebe

Nalebe a shoe line currently sold at Saks, but expanding quickly to more retailers and into clothing, was my first stop. Their presentation was inside the sunken room in spring studios downtown. The shoes were stunning, ranging from bright purples and orange hues to neutrals that match every skin color. The founder Amina was there to answer questions and talk about her collection. She feels that shoes must be comfortable, after an ankle injury had her out of heels for 6+ months she couldn’t wait to get back into some nicer shoes. Her shoe line features mules and block heels that don’t sacrifice style but can be worn for hours without hurting your feet. I was most enamored by the gem stone heels as well as their nude collection. Can’t wait to shop them in store.

Colin Locascio

Next up was Colin Locascio on Mulberry street. This presentation was out of this world, very etherial and garden chic but mixed with Dr. Seuss aesthetic. I LOVE that the designer was inspired by outer borough girls - growing up in north jersey - the fact that this collection nodded towards Adriana from the Sopranos makes it that much more interesting in my eyes. I first saw this designer on the super chic Alyssa Coscarelli wearing one of his hats on ig. In person the 3D crocheting and all the pastel pops were really appealing to my eye and I would love to own one of his pieces someday. The details on everything was really special, there was one hoodie where each of the drawstrings were completely covered in crystals. He really took every day pieces and elevated them in a really fun and interesting way.

Social Work NYC

My final and favorite show was Social Work, the clothing was so well tailored and every piece spoke to me. The inspiration for the collection was from interior design, specifically the designer’s friends apartment. The presentation was held in a super chic loft with gorgeous lighting and the furniture surrounding the models was as drool-worthy as the clothes. I’ve included some of my favorite pieces below but this show was definitely the one that spoke most to me. The neutral tones mixed with pops of color with the subtle feminine tailoring was beautiful and something I will dream about wearing.
