Greenport

Greenport Long Island is the chiller sister of the Hamptons, located on the north fork of long island, it’s about the same distance as the Hamptons from the city just a bit more north. Over this past summer I planned a birthday weekend there to spend some time with friends and check out their famed wineries. Greenport has over 100 wineries within a few miles radius of each other. Not only are their a ton of wineries there are some beautiful unique beaches as well. You may have read that I actually got proposed to on the extra scenic 67 steps beach right in Greenport, a must visit if you’re traveling there. We stayed at the Menhaden right in town which I highly recommend for it’s interior design as well as ease of walking everywhere. Some favorite breakfast spots included Crazy Beans Diner and Bruce and Sons for some high end breakfast foods. For dinner American Beech was amazing and fun vibes, with a lot of cool funky furniture throughout. The Halyard for dinner is epic with endless horizon views of the ocean and if you can swing it I’d definitely stay at the Soundview, the re-done high end motel that the Halyard is inside of.

We loved Kontakosta winery that backs up onto more ocean views, and we also visited Sparkling Pointe (famous for their sparkling wines) and Corey Creek vineyards, but there are literally hundreds of options so go crazy. A short drive past Greenport and you are in the very scenic Orient, the very the northern tip of Long Island with 360 views of water. There is also a kind of kitschy lavender field. We didn’t actually pay to go in the lavender field but we did pick up some really fragrant bundles of lavender that still sit in our living room. If we had had a bit more time I would of definitely rented a boat and had a day on the water as well!
