Tulum

Tulum really became popular 3-4 years ago, although locals have known about this gem of a town an hour or two outside of Cancun for many years. Tulum is a great escape from your all inclusive resorts in Cancun. It’s a very laidback vibe with endless healing ceremonies, yoga retreats, and sound baths. You will also find great drinks, food, and partying.

I would recommend avoiding during New Years and really January-February as those are the peak seasons and everything sky rockets price wise and it is generally much more crowded than usual.

If you are planning a trip to Tulum I recommend booking a taxi from the airport from a reputable site as things can get a little sketchy with this transfer. Get ready for a decently long drive from Cancun to Tulum, as you get closer to your destination there is only one main road for the beachy part of Tulum - which I also recommend staying on the beach rather than in town.

Once your settled hit the beach, plan some yoga classes, and enjoy all the amazing restaurants that line the main road. There are endless boutiques with one of a kind pieces as well that are so worth it. I purchased my favorite hat of all time in Tulum and still wear it 2.5 years later.

My top two places to stay would be the Nomade, best price and amazing ‘glamping’ tents that genuinely feel as nice if not nicer than hotel rooms with great parties and free activities included, and the second more pricey recommendation is Azulik. If you don’t stay there then at least go for sunset drinks one night, I have never been to a resort like this anywhere in the world. They don’t have any electricity powered lights at night so as to preserve wildlife and the structures of all the buildings are an architectural dream.
