Central Park
Central park is 2 avenues away from my apartment and has been one of my favorite things about living uptown. I can’t really imagine living in New York without Central Park. It gives me nature and, if you know where to go, peace and quiet. With quarantine happening I have been doing my daily walk there everyday with Marty and have been discovering things I’ve never known about before, even after going to the park for 5+ years. It made me think of writing a list of my favorite places and basically all CP has to offer! Please comment anything that I missed, would love to keep finding new gems.
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir
Conservatory Gardens and the pond behind it
The Great Lawn
Shakespeare Garden, Belvedere Castle
Ice skating at Wollman Rink in the winter
Alice in Wonderland statues and the boat racing pavilion
Tennis courts up north, I signed up for tennis lessons there last summer
the North Woods, tons of waterfalls and bird watching
the Public pool, have never been but amazed me the first time I saw the enormous pool in CP
Sheep Meadow - the most popular spot for downtowners when they make the trek to CP
Tavern on the Green - old restaurant that has been re-done a few times, and right nearby an LPQ with outdoor seating if you’re feeling less fancy
Row Boating followed by the Boat House for drinks
Right by the boat house theres a beautiful mosaic cave-like structure where there is almost always someone playing an instrument, by the fountain
Central Park Zoo! Which honestly it’s been too long since I’ve been
Carousel, good for if you have kids
